Experimental Type

The aim of this project is to expand how we look, interact with, and experience type as form. Letters carry meaning, but they are also physical shapes. Therefore, we used expressive type where text is highly visual and type becomes an image. We began by choosing a topic where I chose to focus on poetry which is something that I love and I’m also Palestinian so merging those two together made sense to me. I chose Palestinian poet Naomi Shihab who wrote beautiful poems about Palestine and I used expressive type that I had made myself and tried to visually communicate her proems.
